The International Office at the Hospital Sao Joao is such a great resource and the people are most hospitable! Go there to make your appointment for your ERASMUS Orientation...an absolute MUST!! Just ask for Sophia...but be sure you do so during appopriate office hours and be sure to have your application completed beforehand so things can go smoothly with registration. She is a busy woman. Nevertheless, she is the MOST helpful, friendly, and welcoming person you've ever met and she is a Porto native!! When I asked her for a referral for a place to get a haircut, she took time out of her free time, drove me to the beach and took me to her favorite hairdresser. Maybe my hair was that bad...I don't know, but I'm pretty sure she did it out of the goodness of her heart because she knows first-hand what it's like to be in a new place and not know anyone...she studied abroad as well. All I have to say is WOW!! My hair looked absolutely fabulous (which you can't appreciate in this picture) and I even had the opportunity to meet her mom. I'll just say this, the Portuguese age really well. Mother and daughter...simply gorgeous!
Sophia and I post-awesome chocolate cake tasting at the International Office...All Smiles!
